2018 Roadshows....BDMLR Conference, and Derry Halloween Event in Northern Ireland

In October, we took the roadshow to the BDMLR Conference in Birmingham, followed a few weeks later by the Derry Halloween event for The Loughs Agency in Northern Ireland.

At the British Divers Marine Life Rescue Conference in Birmingham, to celebrate 30 years since BDMLR was founded in 1988, we provided a selection of Marine Wildlife models to enhance the conference venue on the Saturday and on the Sunday we provided a workshop to show how BDMLR regional co-ordinators can repair the rescue training dolphins and seals we have made for BDMLR over past 20+ years, all of which are still in regular use at the BDMLR Marine Mammal Medic training courses across UK and overseas.  See   www.bdmlr.org.uk

A few weeks later we took the roadshow to Northern Ireland, to work with The Loughs Agency, for their Derry Halloween half term event at their HQ and Aquarium in Derry.  The vehicle maintenance garage was transformed into an underwater world, into which we squeezed a 15m juvenile Blue Whale and other Marine wildlife models, to create an amazing two day event.  The public response was massive, with the Loughs Agency Aquarium recording its greatest ever visitor numbers over the half term break.......a memorable event, especially since Derry is famous for its Halloween celebrations, and our uniquely different event seemed to capture the imagination of the good folk of Derry, who turned out in their thousands......see the nice email we received from one local family

Dear Andy, I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed your Whale Roadshow at "Monsters of the Deep" in the Loughs Agency in Londonderry during the past two days. Your roadshow was enthralling and we learned new things. Your knowledge and desire to impart it was wonderful. Thank you for taking time with us to share what is obviously your passion. We hope to meet you again. Many Thanks
