2015 Roadshows....July

A return visit to Portsmouth International Ferry Port, working with ORCA to launch their Ocean Watch Project for passengers on Brittany Ferries, then off to Northern Ireland.  Here we worked with The Loughs Agency and Ulster Wildlife as part of their Marine Week 2015, in Derry for the Taste of the Foyle seafood festival, and in Newry at the busy Quays Shopping Centre. Back across the Irish Sea for a week long Marine Wildlife Roadshow at Souter Lighthouse, Tyne & Wear, working with The National Trust, then cross country to Merseyside for a day working with Sefton Coast Landscape Project. 1500 miles over 4 weeks and 1000s of visitors, plus lots of new items for the "beach finds" tabletop display, and great contacts made for future shows.

The marine wildlife was back at Portsmouth Port for a day
...to help launch ORCA's Ocean Watch Project

Downstairs in the concourse a young Blue Whale greets a visiting school group

A brief intro to the creatures, including Dolphins, Porpoise, Sharks, Seals, and a Turtle
...and lots of artefacts to examine and ask about
Back downstairs, the Blue Whale is measured
...it is BIG
...and it is only 8 months old......adult is twice as long !
Guest speaker Nigel Marven poses for a pic with some visitors
The school group has gone, but lots of ferry passengers around
...everyone wants a pic with the amazing Blue Whale
We left this newly made Common Dolphin for ORCA to use during its school presentations and onboard the ferries
